Awards of Excellence

Nominations for the 2023 Awards of Excellence and Pru Pratten Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award have closed.

The 2023 award recipients will be announced and honoured at the Gala Dinner held at the ASA2023 Brisbane Conference in May.

About the Awards

The annual ASA Awards of Excellence honours outstanding achievements in sonography and recognises excellence, best practice and contributions to sonography. It is these sonographers, who are the pillars of our profession.

The ASA Awards of Excellence are the perfect opportunity to shine a light on a sonographer who has made a difference over the past year.

It could be someone who has gone the extra mile in patient care, is an innovative educator, or is passionate about mentoring sonographers. They could be the sonographer in your workplace who provides great team support, someone dedicated to volunteering, or perhaps an enthusiastic researcher.

Nominees don't need to be a household name. If anything, nominating someone who is less well-known will ensure their contribution to the sonography profession is recognised by all Australasian sonographers.

The Awards of Excellence categories include:

  • Sonographer of the Year (ACT, NSW, NT, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC, WA & New Zealand)

  • The Sue Caitcheon Memorial ASA Volunteer of the Year Award

  • Researcher of the Year

  • Tutor/Clinical Supervisor of the Year

Up to 13 awards are bestowed each year, recognising the achievement of sonographers in the states and territories of Australia, and New Zealand. Excellence in research, tutoring and volunteering is also recognised.
