Previous director or related experience: Previous ASA director. Competencies and skills relevant to the role: I have spent 3 years with the current ASA board which has provided me insight into the workings of the board and the areas that require attention and direction. As a commercial and operations manager in radiology businesses in addition to a clinical sonography background, I have the skills and insights to understand the industry position on issues and balance them well to ensure we can drive the business in the right direction. I have had leadership roles over the last 8 years that have allowed me to build the key insights into identifying, managing and advising on areas within people and culture as well as key change management principles. My current role requires me to review risk with P and L responsibilities. Though I fail to have the knowledge of finance managers or accountants, I believe as a member director, I do have the ability to review and interpret the required financial material as it is presented in the ASA to ensure we remain solvent. Personal attributes relevant to the role: I am an innovator, seeking to grow, build and progress the profession. In the current state of play, my personal drivers will ensure that the ASA will not be left behind but is positioned to lead sonographer expertise as we build this maturing industry. I am persistent and not afraid to push the boundaries and I trust that this attribute will assist the business in thinking beyond the norm, especially as we approach our target of regulation.
