The Accuracy of Sonographers' Reports in a High-Risk Obstetric Service: Is the Input of Radiologists Necessary?

This retrospective, single centre study investigated the agreement between 650 sonographer and radiologist reports of ultrasound examinations on high-risk antenatal clinic patients and obstetric Inpatients.

There was high agreement (98%). The patient cohort was predominantly composed of antenatal clinic patients presenting for surveillance of growth, fluid, and Doppler parameters.

The involvement of radiologists in the verification/authorisation of sonographers' reports did not improve the clinical content of the reports.
