Celebrating sonographers in October
OCTOBER is Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month (MUAM), a globally observed initiative started by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) in the US to increase awareness of sonography and the role of sonographers.
27 OCTOBER is Australasian Sonographers Day, the ASA introduced this day in 2018 and it is acknowledged across health departments as a day for sonographers to be recognised for their important role in the healthcare community as experts in ultrasound. Each year, 27 October is your day to celebrate and be proud that you are a sonographer!
This year we are celebrating Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month and Australasian Sonographers Day with a host of event ideas, resources to download and merchandise for members.

Download a poster to display at your workplace, change your email signature or download a social tile and use the and hashtag #proudtobeasonographer to tell your friends and family why you are proud to be a sonographer.
Organise a morning tea:
We encourage all sonographers to organise a morning tea to celebrate Australasian Sonographers Day on Friday, 27 October. REGISTER your morning tea and you will be in the draw to win ten pairs of fun sonography socks for your workplace! Take some time on your special day to reflect on the important work that you do.
