Dr Larissa Bligh
Dr. Larissa Bligh is an experienced sonographer with more than 25 years in clinical practice, including 15 years dedicated to maternal-fetal medicine in Brisbane. She completed her doctorate in MFM in 2019, with research focusing on the use of spectral Doppler and placental biomarkers to predict intrapartum fetal compromise in low-risk pregnancies.
Larissa has contributed nine peer-reviewed publications and regularly presents her work to both Australian and international audiences. In her dual roles as an MFM sonographer and advanced clinical educator, she delivers tertiary-level obstetric ultrasound and provides clinical support and mentorship to rural and remote sonographers across Queensland. Larissa is passionate about advancing the profession, promoting evidence-based practice, and supporting the next generation of sonographers to deliver high-quality obstetric imaging.
Mrs Teresa Clapham
With over 26 years of experience in sonography, Teresa developed a passion for obstetrics and gynaecology very early in her ultrasound career. She has worked in a multitude of clinical settings from radiology, Queensland Ultrasound for Women (QUFW) (previously Brisbane Ultrasound for Women), and various Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) units. For 7 years Teresa also worked for a corporate ultrasound company, where she was able to share her love of teaching and develop her business acumen within the ultrasound domain. In 2020, Teresa returned to QUFW as the Chief Sonographer and is now their Operations Manager. She continues to work clinically and loves seeing the younger generation of sonographers excel and develop through quality education programs and teaching.
Dr Kate Russo
Kate enjoys working as a senior lecturer in the master’s ultrasound program at Central Queensland University and as a specialist sonographer in obstetrics and gynaecology for SA Medical Imaging at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide.
Her ultrasound career started in Brisbane in 1998, where she spent five years before moving to the United Kingdom. While in London, Kate developed her passion in fetal medicine before returning to Adelaide in 2008.
She has a special interest in fetal echocardiography and research, completing her PhD titled ‘Maternal cardiac function in women high-risk for pre-eclampsia’ in 2020. Kate continues to be involved with research and regularly gives presentations locally and nationally, aiming to improve obstetric ultrasound services for women through education.
