Pelvic floor ultrasound

Pelvic floor ultrasound

Answer

  1. Hi!

    Thank you for your question.

Pelvic floor imaging has come a really long way in the last few years and is now quite a complex advanced part of gynae imaging.

With the new Medicare item number it is now considered a complex gynae ultrasound and requires a minimum of 30 minutes scanning time.

3D assessment of the pelvic floor is the gold standard. From a general pelvic ultrasound point of view, referrers generally want to know whether there is any evidence of a bulky uterus or fibroids that could be causing similar symptoms. So leaving the pelvic floor imaging to specialists is best practice.

We currently do not have any resources I apologise, but they are in the works for 2026!

    Thank you!
