The latest data shows key statistics of:

• 79% of the sonography workforce is female
• the number of full-time sonographers has dropped to 46%
• 72% work in private practice, 25% in public with the remainder in education
• 63% are located in city/metro areas, 31% in regional towns, 6% rural/remote areas
