The latest data shows key statistics of:
- 79% of the sonography workforce is female
- the number of full-time sonographers has dropped to 46%
- 72% work in private practice, 25% in public with the remainder in education
- 63% are located in city/metro areas, 31% in regional towns, 6% rural/remote areas
