ASA Annual Report 2025–26 out now
The ASA Annual Report 2025-26 reflects a year of momentum and progress for the sonography profession across Australia and New Zealand.
The report highlights the ASA’s work over the past year, from advancing the profession and strengthening clinical standards, to supporting lifelong learning, member engagement and the visibility of sonography.
Inside the Annual Report 2025-26
Key highlights from the year include:
- Australia’s first entry-level scope of practice for sonographers, providing greater clarity around professional standards and expectations.
- New clinical guidelines covering areas including chronic venous insufficiency, ultrasound-guided peripheral intravenous catheter insertion and endometriosis ultrasound.
- ASA2026 on the Gold Coast, bringing together more than 2,100 attendees for education, connection and celebration of the profession.
- Expanded professional development opportunities, including the launch of the Sonographer Mentorship Program and a new sonography summit in Aotearoa New Zealand.
- The Sonographer Awareness Campaign, which generated more than 9.9 million impressions and reached more than 1.8 million people across paid channels.
- Continued growth and engagement in Aotearoa New Zealand, including two new branches and a 12% increase in membership.
- Advocacy and research to support the future of the profession, including workforce initiatives, policy submissions and research and audit grants.
The report also provides an overview of ASA’s governance, membership, financial performance and organisational priorities as we continue to work towards a strong, recognised and sustainable future for sonography.
