The ASAR and ASA Boards came together for the first time over the weekend
In a historic milestone for the sonography profession, the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) and the Australasian Sonographers Association (ASA) Boards met together over the weekend for the first time.
The joint meeting provided a valuable opportunity for both Boards to undertake a comprehensive discussion on collaborative opportunities, and on the future of sonography. Key topics included:
- Challenges and opportunities affecting the profession
- The role of self regulation, particularly in light of the current NRAS review and government considerations
- Current and future workforce planning to support a sustainable profession
- The position of sonography within the broader Australian healthcare sector
Both ASAR and ASA emphasised the importance of collaboration, recognising that a unified approach strengthens the profession’s voice and impact. This initial joint meeting sets the foundation for ongoing cooperative projects and advocacy, ensuring the sonography profession continues to thrive, grow, and meet the needs of patients and healthcare systems into the future.
ASAR and ASA look forward to building on this momentum and working together to achieve a sustainable and respected future for sonography in Australia.
