Julie Archbold

I am a Senior Sonographer and education leader/consultant based in Victoria with more than 25 years of experience in ultrasound clinical practice. I have a strong interest in clinical training and in 2017 completed a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
As the peak body for sonographers in Australia and New Zealand, the ASA is uniquely placed to support quality processes in clinical practice and training. I am passionate about the next generation of sonographers growing to support patients, particularly in clinical excellence, communication processes and quality management.
Janessa Baddeley, AFASA

With over a decade of experience in medical imaging, I bring a unique blend of clinical and organisational expertise to the ASA Board. My journey began with a degree in Radiology in 2011, followed by a postgraduate diploma in Ultrasound from UniSA in 2015, and a Master of Ultrasound from CQU in 2019. Six years ago, I had the privilege of serving as the inaugural ASA Professional Development Manager (PDM), a role I was instrumental in creating and one I am proud to see continue to expand in its delivery of the highest level of professional resources for sonographers.
The future of sonography is being written right now — and we have a choice: to lead the change or be shaped by it. I’m running for the ASA Board to ensure we lead.
Sean Coveney

I am an experienced sonographer and have had the privilege of serving on the ASA Board for the past three years. This role has given me the opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of our profession while working alongside a dedicated team of colleagues.
The past three years on the Board have been greatly rewarding. I wish to continue helping to support the ASA team and the profession to drive change and progress. I believe ultrasound is a continually growing profession and is at a critical point in pursuing registration and greater professional recognition. Maintaining a consistent Board through the re-election of current directors will preserve the knowledge base that is already in place, helping any newly appointed directors to grow into their roles.
Sharron Earsman

I began my career as a Registered Nurse from 1991 to 2010, completing a Graduate Certificate in Critical Care and spending the last five years of that time in Radiology. From 2007 to 2010, I trained as a student sonographer (DMU) before transitioning into my current role as a sonographer in 2010. Over the years, I have also worked as a tutor sonographer and contributed to the profession as a reviewer of articles for the Sonography journal.
I wish to improve the quality and future of sonographers. I want to support ASA in doing this. I want to be involved in increasing training positions and the public profile of sonographers throughout Australia, including rural and remote areas.
Kosta Hellmanns

I am the Head of Ultrasound at the Repat Health Precinct, a public South Australian Medical Imaging site. In this role I’m fortunate to lead a great group of sonographers in the provision of general, obstetric, gynaecological, vascular and MSK ultrasound services.
As a Director on the ASA board, I would be able to apply this passion and motivation to the broader profession and our Association – advocating more broadly for sonographers and patients, working towards establishing a sustainable and future-proof sonographic profession, and giving back to the ASA community which has supported me and fostered my passion.
Ashley Mattson

I bring 18+ years in cardiology and 13+ years dedicated to echocardiography across public and private sector, combined with curriculum design and accreditation experience across Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. I currently balance part-time clinical education for the Department of Critical Care Medicine registrars at the Royal Hobart Hospital, with a high-caseload clinical role in private practice, keeping my governance perspective grounded in real-world service pressures and complex physiology.
I am nominating for the ASA Board because I see the opportunity to assist in shaping the strategic direction of sonography in Australasia, including guiding policy, promoting best practice, and ensuring the profession remains at the forefront of healthcare. I also want to contribute by implementing ideas that reflect my values and long-term vision for the profession.
Brooke Osborne, FASA

I am currently a Senior Lecturer: Academic Development within the Teaching Innovation Unit at the University of South Australia. Prior to academia, I worked for over a decade as a radiographer/sonographer in major public hospitals.
I am seeking election to continue my time on the board as a reflection of my passion for helping to build the sonography profession to the level of recognition it deserves.
Sarah Stevens-Gieseg

I am a general medical Sonographer (DMU) with hospital experience offering tertiary level obstetric and paediatric ultrasound, and subsequently in private practice, general, obstetric, and vascular experience.
I am an advocate for fairer access to ultrasound services, particularly for rural and underprivileged communities. Robust sonographer credentialling in specialist areas, and ensuring sonographers are recognised as the experts in ultrasound is essential for the future.
Presanna Sujenthiran

I have more than 18 years of experience in ultrasound, I bring extensive clinical, leadership, and operational expertise to the profession. Currently employed as the Victorian Ultrasound Manager for IDX where I oversea statewide ultrasound services for 65 clinics including workforce planning and clinical governance.
I see opportunities for the ASA to play a leading role in shaping the profession’s future through digital health adoption, workforce development, and strengthening professional recognition. I am deeply committed to the mission of the ASA and to ensuring that sonographers are empowered, well-supported, and recognised for their vital contributions to healthcare. As a Board Director, I would contribute a balanced perspective that combines clinical depth, academic rigor, operational leadership, and community engagement.
